The sequel to the DVD “Ostinato & Polyrhythms” , the new DVD “ a step further’ , does exactly  what  the title promises!

The DVD is full of exercises , solos , and performances all recorded LIVE using 4 different viewing angles   , focusing on a variety of technical information on the development of  polyrhythmic vocabulary and advanced independence on the drum kit  .

Players of all levels will benefit from the great  number of examples that are shown , in 3 ways. Firstly the exercise , is shown in it’s basic form , on a drum pad, then on a full drum kit  using the Vdrums and then in solo format where the viewer can see the exercise in it’s advanced use.

Some of the highlights included in this 2 disc product  ,

• a 15 min open solo on an acoustic drumkit incorporating 8 foot pedals and Sky Toms .

• Exercises on subdivisions and groupings (using clusters of 10 notes  all the way up to 20 notes as foot ostinatos over which solos take place plus showing examples with 5 layers of different simultaneous subdivisions 4 on each limb plus using the voice as an additional layer.

• The double clave  (using a 2 bar clave on the left foot against a 1 bar clave on the right foot, while improvising on top with even and odd note clusters) ,plus  the  quadruple clave !( 4 different tempo claves performed simultaneously!)

• New arrangements of Steve Weingart’s (keyboardist for Dave Weckl and Virgil Donati)  tunes “Market place” and “5 Mile Groove” each featuring a new drum solo section.

• Melodic drumming applications on Vdrum kit  (performing F.Chopin’s Nocturne in E min)

• Duets with Bass player Petros Dragoumis , and Percussionist Vangelis Paraskevaides , presenting Greek rhythmic concepts, and their evolution into complex contemporary forms.
